With ever growing concern on the energy efficiency of modern buildings the heat pump is exploding in popularity. Unlike a boiler or furnace, which burn fossil fuels to produce heat, a heat pump transfers heat through an outdoor unit into the indoor space; a heat pump extracts heat from outdoor air. Exchanging heat in this way is simply much more efficient than generating it.
Whilst heat pumps are a relatively new technology in the UK, they are widely used in Scandinavia and many parts of Europe where there is an abundance of renewably sourced electricity.
STAMFORD GREEN SCHOOL PROJECT
Back in the summer of 2021 we installed a Daikin Altherma air source heat pump to supply a new build nursery area within Stamford Green Primary School in Surrey. The installed heat pump supplied the new underfloor heating system which we also installed providing a energy efficient system within the new building.
